St. Patrick's Day

Scotiabank at O'Connor & St.Clair

Hari ini, saya masuk kerja lambat sikit....enam minit...alamak...sakit hati betul.....jadi bila balik dari kerja, saya balik lambat, enam minit lambat. Saya ambil kesempatan untuk ambil gambar kerana pagi ini amat cantik....alamak bahasa malaysia semakin merosot kerana saya kurang guna sejak saya mula tinggal di negara ini...
I claimed my free cup of coffee, got an XL Butter Caramel Flavored Cappuccino

Today being St.Patrick's day, we were given the permission to wear jeans. The social committee's motto, Wear Green to Wear Jeans.
Danforth and Broadview

I feel that there is so much more to Toronto to discover. Like today, when I was in the area of Broadview, I was thinking to myself some of these stores could be pretty great like :Mike's used Music & CDs. I didn't go in, but it could be a great store right?
Or what about Wong's Camera? Located in between a dollar plus store and a dental clinic. I like the sign though...

But you get what i'm saying? These stores have character, and they could be really interesting.
People lining up to go to the Irish Pub in the area..people dressed in green, so was I
The Streetcars on Danforth Ave heading towards Broadview Subway Stn
A sidedish with jelly fish, cucumbers and spicy sauce
Meat fest, beef, chicken, lamb and pork belly

Hendry messaged us today saying "c'mon guys, today is St.Patrick's, lets go and eat and have a few beers. And that we did, we got 2 pitchers of what seemed to me like Tsingtao Beer. It was very good. $6 per pitcher and we had all you can eat barbequed sticks of meat, tofu, cabbage, mushrooms, man tao (chinese buns) at Duquan BBQ (located at Midland & Finch) for $9.99 + tax + tip. It was good times with Hendry, Jane, Claus, and Agathe.

And that folks, was my St.Patty's day.

The Best Samosas in Toronto

So well, I was taking another photo with my phone and then she stopped me and said "You're always taking pictures, hein?" And i said, "Well, that's because my life is filled with pictures that are moving non stop, and i make them still."
Started my day with a free X-Large French Vanilla ...my present Tim Hortons count 3/14.
Win/Gagnez Un Cafe/Coffee :) this is what you roll up, and then, you go and claim your prize, i'll claim it tomorrow

The Roll Up The Rim contest is back, with those red cups going around and prizes like a Car, Netbooks, Cash Prizes, Coffees and Donuts to be won, Tim Horton's sales has never been better, or so i think, personally here, I've contributed $14.63 for about 3 weeks now to buy Tim Hortons. Haha, normally I don't buy any but since RUTR is back, so am I.
The weather was beautiful when I was done work. This was 6:20pm. I'm really happy when the weather is like this. I used to take Malaysia's everyday sunny days for granted, but now I appreciate it like crazy!!! That's what happens when you're in a country where it gets dark at 4pm during the Winter.
Did a pit stop for Samosas
Sultan of Samosas - Located at O'Connor Dr & Sunrise Avenue

I had to try this place, simply because one time that I was on the bus home, this lady had a bag of samosas, and she was eating em, and it smelt so good. I asked her " did you get it from the Sultan of Samosas" and she responded "uh hum" and she continued eating, and after chewing and swallowing her samosa, she continued "i come here purposely for the samosas, the best in Toronto". And so i told myself I had to try it! And sure enough when I entered the store, i saw a picture of a Toronto Star copy with the words "Voted Best Samosas in Toronto"
I bought 12 and had them for dinner

Its almost $0.50 per Samosa, had them with Yogurt and Spicy Mango Sauce. I got the following different flavors, Ten Vegetable, Spinach Cheese, Beef, Mutton, Tandoori Chicken.
Got this for a special someone <3>

Monday the end of my Weekend

Purchases :) with hard earned money
Froggie Bin

Today I bought this little guy for Agathe, a little present as the French are known as the frogs and the English as the Roast Beefs. I thought it was pretty funny.
My Kitchen Aid Tea Kettle

And then I decided to buy this lovely lovely tea kettle which I couldn't resist being 60% off and the price now being at $24. Can't wait to make tea or boil water with this wonderfully made whistling kettle by Kitchen Aid. I'm not a fan of the electric ones
Agathe modeling the Kettle for me :) It so happened she was wearing the same colors as the kettle.

Mid March Weekend

March 14th - Sunday
Went to Church in the morning, had lunch, had a nap and later at about 5pm in the evening, was walking on Queen St, heading towards the IMAX theatre from Osgoode Station. And I passed by the CTV Station.
And there was Agathe and I at Scotiabank's IMAX Theatre downtown. It was my first IMAX experience in Canada and I learned that IMAX is truly Canadian as it was created by them.
And we went to see Alice in Wonderland/Alice au pays de merveille, in 3D. It was pretty good. It cost quite a bit though, at $17.50 Canadian. Pretty entertaining.
IMAX glasses, ready for my Canadian IMAX experience!
And after the movie, we went for Korean Food, where Agathe and Camille were for her birthday in September 2007. Located at Bathurst, this is Toronto's Korean town. Other than the other Korean Town located at Yonge & Finch.
Appetizers
And I had Kam Ja Tang for $6.95 + tax. It was very very good, i'd give it 3.8/5 stars. I liked that they had time, and bean sprouts on top of it. I also had the extra spicy edition. But somehow, i still think that I prefer the Owl of Minerva's Kam Ja Tang better. But this was still very good and I really really enjoyed it.
Agathe's dish, noodles with fish cake/rice cake and kim chi.
Korean Town. It was a very good night :)

March 13th - Saturday

I'm still at my mission at collecting photos of Subway Stations in Toronto. This is Osgoode. Just as I was exiting the subway, I saw Chris, Soraya's ex bf from my university. I went closer and waved, and said "Hey Chris" and he waved back and he recognized me. And so we were talking, and then, he asked "what are you doing now?" and I responded "I work for Scotiabank" and he mentioned "oh, we're competitors, I work for an investment group" and I'm like "haha" and smiled. And there standing beside him, was a red head girl, with a pleasant smile and blue eyes.

And he introduced her to me with her name and added "she's my girlfriend" and we shook hands and he introduced me to her "this is Alex, you're Alex right?" and I'm like, "Erm, actually, I'm James" and he quickly responded "right! James, sorry you just looked a lot like my ex housemate, Alex" and his girlfriend quickly responded "I'm sorry, he's always like this, bad with names". And i casually respond, "that's alright, no worries, anyways, i gotta go meet up with my friends" and i dismissed myself. Talk about awkward, from being polite to just say hi to a university acquaintance to put him in an embarrassing situation where he forgets your name.

Moving on, I walked on that very rainy night and met up with Chloe and Agathe at the Rex, Jazz Bar on Queen St right after work. Had a pint of Coors light to chill to some good music after a long day at work. They were good, and yes at the time of this picture, they were doing a cover of MJ's Rock With You.
Happy International Women's Week everyone.

March 12th - Friday

I had dinner with the TCCCC colleagues and my ex-manager. Just to catch up, we had at least 8 dishes at a Chinese Resto at Midland & Steeles. It was good stuff, but i didnt' want to look like a "jakun" and take pictures of the food we were having, and the price of being professional, no pictures of food. I had a great time with my colleagues and it was the first time I spoke so much cantonese with Grace. She was surprised that I spoke Cantonese too.

Open Mic March 7th

Agathe was looking for things to do in Toronto, and since i left university, i haven't been in the Open Mic Scene for a while. After leaving this place, I had in me the desire to want to do open mic again and I might want to do at this place. Hosted at the Global Backpacker's Village at 460 King St, this place advertises a global audience being a backpacker's hostel. The bar is actually one tiny corner as you will see not so well in my photos from my iPhone.

This is the host, he started off with two songs..i think his name is John
This was guy no.2 - forgot his name...he has a myspace page :)
This is the bar's sign that they are located on 460 King St
That night, as long as I was at the bar, this was the 2nd best guy on stage, his name was Julio! :) He started off "Hola, my name is Julio and i'm from Mexico" i clapped the most for this guy, and the viewers raised their hands with him. He was interesting, he walked up on to the stage, and you were thinking to yourself "this guy is gonna grab his guitar" BUT.....he pulls out a thumbsize mp3 player and plugs it into the system, and then the music begins, and he starts singing. I like this guy, props! Oh, and he has a myspace page too, but i forgot...
The Spectators from the Hostel and from around the area...
This guy stole the show, i think his name is Ian (i might be wrong but he's going to tour in Germany). If you were there from the time it started and after you've seen this guy play, you know you've seen the best of them all and you think to yourself, its time to go home. That's what I did, at 10:30, Agathe and I left. Bye bye...Some awesome finger guitar display from this guy, you'd be amazed too. Too bad i didn't have a video app on my iPhone!!! I'll get one soon guys, just for the faithful readers that read my blog.
The bar, $5 for a pint of Steam Whistle. I had one.
And yeah, what's a night out or a bar without a disco ball, you gotta have one! Goodnight. Took a street car home, 504 :) Love Toronto Street Cars

March 5th - 7th

Once again, i'm not quite caught up on my blog. Thanks to my laziness and the microblogging twitter site, my attempts to restart my blog require some real motivation.
On Friday March the 5th in the year 2010, Agathe and I went downtown Toronto for some Bubble Tea and later on, we had seafood congee at Spadina & Dundas at the House of Gourmet due to curiosity. The Congee was good

Agathe and her beloved Taro Sherbet at the Tea Shop 168
On Saturday, March the 6th in the year 2010, Hendry, Jane, Claus, Sara, Penny, Agathe and I went down to Waterloo. Sara who was visiting for a week from Chicago had wanted to go clubbing in Waterloo, and thus we went to Revolution.

Agathe and I left earlier at about 1-ish in the morning so that we could play Scene It, Bright Lights Big Screen something on xbox 360 with Mike and Jacey. That was lots of fun, 4 player Scene it. Mike stole the game twice from me just when we were about to end it. Finally , my two xbox controllers were put to full use.

The next day, we had our all you can eat sushi. This weekend was the same weekend di mana xbox saya dimodified kau kau....by Mike Murakami

And that's all folks! March 5th - 7th
